I've got a project in a local ski resort town that is at about 8000 ft elevation where the client wants fiber cement board and batten siding. Due to elevation, it rarely gets warm enough for long enough to do this as site painted. I've done pre-painted horizontal several times and only site painted b&b.

Whats nice about using a 2x band board is after putting on the z-bar, add a 1/4" shim to stand your sheet off the band, makes a handy ledger for setting sheets, especially these 4x10 sheets. Plus add the thickness of the hardie and the 1x batten you are just bit shy of the full thickness of the band board.

I need some advice on the best method for installing stone veneer over an existing cedar board and batten house. A good client of mine would like stone on two sections of his house. The stone would be a 1" or so veneer. My thoughts are to put on a vapor barrier then lath, scratch coat and stone.

LP is still wood and susceptible mold and rot if it doesn't properly dry out. Latest best practice with either is to install siding over a rain screen so there is proper ventilation or drying if wind blown rain gets behind the siding. I'm getting bids on some siding work and when I bring up rain screens I'm getting dead air.

I'm working on a project where we plan to use cedar T&G for the soffits and then Hardie vertical panels (batten board style). Which do you prefer to install first and for what reasons? Here the siding sits under the sub-fascia, except for battens obviously. Make sure to nail correctly based on width and I have great success tooling original Quad sealant down each side of the batten. The rough sawn lumber loves solid timber stain as opposed to painting.
